It’s not just rookies who fall. Even the best in the world hit the ground from time to time—and Jessie Diggins is using her latest crash as a chance to remind everyone about roller ski safety.

The traditional cross-country skiing star Jessie Diggins took to Instagram this weekend to share the aftermath of a fall during a training session in the USA. The incident left her with visible road rashes on her leg and hands, but no serious injuries.

“Been a hot minute since I crashed out on roller skis,” Diggins wrote on her social media channel. “And it’s a great reminder of why we wear helmets!”

In a video clip posted alongside the update, she added more context in her trademark upbeat tone:

“Well, I cheese-grated myself, which—this happens—and I’ll heal. But it’s a really good reminder of why we always, always wear helmets when you roller ski, because you never know when you’re going to rocket into an intersection and maybe not make the turn.”

Jessie Diggins, always prepared, reassured fans there’s “no stress,” and she has “plenty of Tegaderm,” referring to the transparent medical dressing she’s using to treat the abrasions.

Despite the crash, Diggins’ summer training rhythm remains uninterrupted. Known for blending hard work with a positive mindset, she’s already back to business after a brief detour—and a bit of road rash.

With a packed preseason ahead and her sights set on another standout winter, the American star is all-in as she builds toward key goals, including the next World Cup campaign and a long-term trajectory toward the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. One takeaway from the day’s training? The helmet stays on—no exceptions.
