Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (NOR) bags his ninth Tour de Ski stage victory in a four-way battle for the podium in the men’s 15-kilometer skate race in Oberstdorf, Germany.

Updates in progress

On the final lap of the men’s 15-kilometer mass start skate race in Oberstdorf, Germany, it was going to be a four-way battle for the podium four: Andrew Musgrave (GBR), Alexander Bolshunov (RUS), Sjur Røthe (NOR) and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (NOR).

However, coming into the stadium for the finish line, Klæbo led by a comfortable margin. The 25-year-old Norwegian won by nearly 3.5 seconds, and increased his overall lead in the Tour de Ski.

Solid efforts in the top 10
Great Britain’s Andrew Musgrave pulled off an impressive effort. The 31-year-old led much of the last lap, and just narrowly missed the podium.

“It’s a good sign that reporters want to talk with me after a race, that’s the first time this season. I’ve performed terrible so far,” the Brit jokes as reporters approach him after the race.

“I felt good, so it was annoying that I hit the wall in such a major way on the last hill. I parked completely on the last 10 meters. I had great skis, but there was no way I could glide in those 25 meters in the last stretch to the finish line,” Musgrave says after his fourth-place performance.

Also, Calle Halfvarsson of Sweden delivered a solid performance. Finishing sixth, the 32-year-old put in a loud bid for one of the last two tickets to the 2022 Olympics in February.

Later this afternoon, the women will race their 10-kilometer mass start skate race.

One more stage in Germany
Tomorrow, Tour de Ski continues in Oberstdorf. Stage 3 features start sprint races for both men and women.
