Team Nordic Expérience’s Ambitions For Engadin La Diagonela

by Claire Moyse • 21.01.2022
After their great weekend in Val Venosta Time Trial, Team Nordic Expérience – Coste & Crédit Agricole Franche-Comté wants to be at the front of Engadin La Diagonela tomorrow.

The French Pro Tour team, whose skiers’ form has only improved since the beginning of the season, arrives with the desire to be among the best in tomorrow’s race.

As Maxime Grenard says, “we are very motivated, boosted by the great performances of last weekend. We want to show that we are present, even in the longer races, and tomorrow’s distance suits us. There is also a bit of apprehension because of the cold, but it will be fine this year! We’ve done a great job all week, so we’re pumped up.”

We all remember the extreme conditions during the last edition of Engadin La Diagonela. The cold weather affected many athletes, particularly Andreas Nygaard, Britta Johansson Norgren or the French Team, Alexis Jeannerod, Thomas Joly, and Kati Roivas.

ProXCskiing asked Roivas and Joly what their state of mind is on the eve of the race.

“I feel a bit nervous because of the cold, but I’m also excited. I want to try to ski better than last week. We were also able to ski on the track this week, which is good, as I had no memory of last year because of the cold. I like the course, which is varied with climbs that are quite difficult”, says Kati.

“I’m resentful because last year it was the race that cost me my season. It’s the race I’ve been looking forward to the most since last year. Moreover, I am not satisfied with my race last weekend, so I want to bounce back. The course is nice, we are happy, and we will be able to enjoy the race,” says Thomas.

Team Nordic Expérience – Coste & Crédit Agricole Franche-Comté skiers are worth watching, they can be serious contenders for tomorrow’s Engadin La Diagonela, both on the women and men’s field.

Next up in the Visma Ski Classics is Engadin La Diagonela. The 55-kilometer classic long-distance race takes place in Switzerland tomorrow, January 22, 2022.
