After the 2022 Olympic season, Anamarija Lampič announced that she would follow in the footsteps of her Swedish rival Stina Nilsson — switching from cross-country skiing to biathlon.

Since changing sports, she immediately made her mark on the ski tracks. No one is faster than the Slovenian sprint star. During the 2024/2025 season, she also claimed her first two World Cup podiums.

Justine Braisaz-Bouchet is the second-fastest on the list of the World’s quickest biathletes, but the French biathlon star still has a considerable gap up to Lampič.

The fastest Norwegian is Ida Lien. The 28-year-old from Drammen ranks fifth among the fastest women on the World Cup circuit. However, Lien is clearly the fastest on the list from the IBU Cup. Maren Kirkeeide also makes it into the top ten, sharing ninth place with Czech biathlete Paulina Batovska Fialkova.

The 2025/2026 Biathlon World Cup kicks off in Östersund on November 29. The season includes eight regular World Cup rounds, plus the Winter Olympics in Italy.

Norway dominates the top of the IBU Cup

In the IBU Cup, Norway’s Ida Lien — who splits her winter between the World Cup and IBU Cup — is by far the fastest. Ragnhild Femsteinevik is third, not far behind France’s Paula Botet. Both also divided their seasons between the two circuits.

Overall, however, France dominates the top 10, with five athletes among the fastest.

The 2025/2026 IBU Cup season starts in Obertilliach, Austria, in early December and concludes in Lake Placid, USA, in March.
