Sweden’s Anna Dyvik leaves Tour de Ski after two of the six 2022 Tour de Ski stages.

Based on her performances in the first two events of Tour de Ski, the 26-year-old Swede made the Swedish team to the 2022 Olympics. The announcement was made this morning.

Dyvik was fifth in the sprint final in the opening stage of Tour de Ski on Tuesday. Yesterday, she finished 30th in the 10-kilometer classic race, which was the second stage of Tour de Ski.

Having secured that spot on the Olympic team, Dyvik now returns to Sweden in order to prepare for the Winter Games in Beijing.

“Given the Olympic team selection, Anna Dyvik has decided to leave Tour de Ski. She will now go home and set up a plan for how to prepare for the upcoming Olympics, and will therefore not be able to complete the rest of the Tour de Ski,” the Swedish Ski Association reports.

Dyvik is one of 14 cross-country skiers in the Swedish national team to the 2022 Olympics. Sweden has a quota of eight male and eight female cross-country skiers in the upcoming Olympics.

After Tour de Ski, the Swedish Olympic Committee will name two additional athletes to the cross-country ski team headed to China in February: One male and one female.

Tour de Ski now moves on to Oberstdorf, Germany, for Tour de Ski stage 3 and 4 on December 31 and January 1. Stage 3 features a 10-kilometer mass start skate race for women and 15-kilometer mass start skate race for men. Stage 4 features classic sprint races for both men and women.
